Online Poker License to Three More Casino Operators
We can today tell you that the state of Nevada have given an Online Poker License to Three More Casino Operators. Nevada is developing an intrastate online poker market and this is their next move to make the market grow.
The three casinos were approved yesterday the 18th of October by the Nevada Gaming Commision. They had a meeting in Las Vegas and the Commission approved what the State Gaming Control Board had initial approved.
The Licenses that are given are licenses for players to compete play agains each other online just as poker are played today in traditional poker room. Online Video Poker is not allowed in the license.
Which Casinos got the License
The three casino that got the Nevada online poker license are online subsidiaries of Boyd Gaming Corp., for Station Casinos LLC and the founding Fertitta family’s Ultimate Poker brand, and for the Golden Nugget with casinos in Las Vegas and Laughlin.
Bob Boughner the Vice President at Boyd tells us that he sees online poker as a way for Nevada to diversify its economy.
He Thinks that Nevada are a main player to the nation as online gaming expands and he believes that many of the biggest operators can re-locate to Nevada and in that way create jobs.
Boyd hopes and thinks that online poker will just help the Nevada market to grow and not slow down the physical poker rooms because in the online sector players can play multiple games at the same time which isn´t possible in physical casinos.
Nevada and Online Poker Licences
So now we have seen a dozen of casinos getting their Nevada online poker licenses approved since this summer.
As we have written before the other casinos are South Point Poker, Global Cash Access Holdings, Bally Technologies, SHFL entertainment, American Casino and Entertainment Properties, PokerTrip Enterprises and NetEffect Networks, all of Las Vegas; International Game Technology and Monarch Interactive of Reno.
We have also seen some of the real physical giants to apply for a online poker licens including Caesars Entertainment, MGM and Wynn Resorts.
At the end of this year we also expect South Point Poker to have gotten their Nevada License approved and that they will be up and running with their brand new site.
More News from Las Vegas Strip
Boughner aslo said that there no current plans to continue with the Echelon resort on the Strip as they need some economic catalyst to resume the construction.
He said that they are working on the appearance of their website with improved landscaping and they hope it should be in place next year.
