IGT1 IGT And William Hill Moves For A Nevada License

A day after the Bally Technologies had its e-Gaming license application approved by the Nevada Gaming Control Board, International Game Technology and William Hill have taken the same step.

The move puts the two companies in on a meeting by the Nevada Gaming Commission, which is scheduled to take place on June 21st. If the NGC approves of the licensing of the companies, they will then be all the way through the process.

Commenting about her company’s approval, IGT CEO Patti Hart said: “We are honored to be one of the first recommended providers by the Nevada Gaming Control Board. This important step will allow IGT to better support our customers as they expand their offerings to their players to include interactive wager based entertainment.”

IGT’s Executive Vice President Robert Melendres said that the company’s interactive division employs 400 people. William Hill also was approved for an e-Gaming license, but was questioned heavily during a three hour hearing. The NGCB members questioned Will Hill on its relationship with Playtech, highlighting the background of the company’s largest shareholder, as well as the UK based betting firm’s pre-UIGEA activity within the United States. Although it appeared that NGCB Chairman Mark Lipparelli was set to only give Will Hill a conditional license with a probationary period, the betting giant was approved unconditionally, noting William Hill’s stature throughout the markets in which it legally operates.
